Aaron and Stefani Sneak Peek

I have known these two for about a year and a half or so... ever since my son was old enough for Nursery at church... He misses them a lot.

Here is a sneak peek of our session today...

The above picture was posed as if they were strangers sitting next to each other. Because you never know if that stranger could be "the one."

Scouting locations with Coleen Hauth and our collective brood

We decided at the last minute to go scout some locations today. The weather was perfect. Slightly cloudy, with some thunder storm clouds in the distance. The lighting was perfect too.

Then down came the rain and washed the spider out... So we had about 20 minutes of actual footage... Here's what I captured...

Kimberly and Oliver

These two are so in love. I have known Kim for a long time, and we've been through a lot together, and she is one of the dearest friends I have. Oliver makes her so happy, and because of that, he's pretty great in my book. I was honored to be invited to their ceremony at Cascade Springs, and I have to say that the vows they exchanged were truly tender and beautiful.

Please enjoy a few pictures from a truly beautiful and special evening...

If you are interested in setting up a session with me, please email me at susanmonsonphotography(at)gmail(dot)com.

Super cool picture

I have recently discovered the amazing MATT & KIM and as I am listening to them on my iPod right now, I would like to show you this picture that I think is pretty awesome.

I'm not entirely sure who to give credit to for this picture, but whomever it is... you are filled with all sorts of rad.

Senior Portraits with Stephanie!

My beautiful niece Stephanie is so easy going and good natured. She is such a sweet girl. She was so easy to photograph, and so willing to try what I asked of her. I couldn't have asked for a better model.

I can't believe she's already a SENIOR! This is crazy. Class of 2011... Look out. Steph is a hottie!

If you are interested, I also did her make up. Did you know that I am a professional make up artist as well? Well, now you do! :)

I may post a few more as the days go on, because I haven't finished editing yet, but if you are interested in booking a session with me, please email me at susanmonsonphotography(at)gmail(dot)com. Senior packages start at $100, and include 3 locations (in a 10 mile radius) and 45 images with full copyright release!

Feeling inspired...

Last Friday, I was able to attend the Jack Johnson concert at the USANA amphitheater in Salt Lake City. It was the most amazing show I've been to, (and I've been to a LOT of concerts). I love Jack Johnson's music so much, and I love how kind and good he seems. I ran across an article about his TO THE SEA tour, and found this picture:

I think this picture is perfect.

Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it captures a personality, a mood and a lifestyle in it. This is what I want to do. (If you would like to read the article, you can find it here).

I think Jack Johnson is an inspiring musician, and I love how happy his music makes me. The feeling at the concert was so loving and so good. He emanates goodness and generosity and gratitude and humility. I just think that the world needs more people like him.

I am not trying to make this post about my love and devotion to Jack Johnson, (I'm not a fanatic or anything) but I am showing you something/someone that inspires me.

I want to show the world that the world is good. I don't want to sit back and accept that the news and the mainstream media is the mirror that our world and society holds. I want to show proof that there is life to be lived, and that there are people and things in this world that are inherently good and wonderful. I want to show that with my photographs.

I am not an expert by any means. I have a lot to learn, but I want to strive in every way to convey my love of this world and the people in it through my photographs. Photography is an art form. And I do feel that I am an artist, or at least that I try to be.

I have never heard of Emmett Malloy before, (the man who took that photo) but I do know that he is an artist. That picture is beautiful. Absolutely perfect from top to bottom. The lighting, the composition, the mood, the colors, the life.

Here is another photograph, which just so happens to also be of Jack, that I find amazing as well.

(I'm sorry but I don't know who to give credit for on this one)...

So I am feeling inspired by those photographs, and by music.

DO WHAT YOU LOVE.

Baby Henry

Last week I had the immense pleasure of photographing a beautiful, brand-new baby boy. He is so tiny and so precious! I couldn't hardly stand it! Toni and Evan and Porter were such gracious hosts to me as well during our session. Thank you thank you for the wonderful experience with Baby Henry!

Please enjoy one of the sweetest little people I've ever seen!
