Feeling inspired...

Last Friday, I was able to attend the Jack Johnson concert at the USANA amphitheater in Salt Lake City. It was the most amazing show I've been to, (and I've been to a LOT of concerts). I love Jack Johnson's music so much, and I love how kind and good he seems. I ran across an article about his TO THE SEA tour, and found this picture:

I think this picture is perfect.

Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it captures a personality, a mood and a lifestyle in it. This is what I want to do. (If you would like to read the article, you can find it here).

I think Jack Johnson is an inspiring musician, and I love how happy his music makes me. The feeling at the concert was so loving and so good. He emanates goodness and generosity and gratitude and humility. I just think that the world needs more people like him.

I am not trying to make this post about my love and devotion to Jack Johnson, (I'm not a fanatic or anything) but I am showing you something/someone that inspires me.

I want to show the world that the world is good. I don't want to sit back and accept that the news and the mainstream media is the mirror that our world and society holds. I want to show proof that there is life to be lived, and that there are people and things in this world that are inherently good and wonderful. I want to show that with my photographs.

I am not an expert by any means. I have a lot to learn, but I want to strive in every way to convey my love of this world and the people in it through my photographs. Photography is an art form. And I do feel that I am an artist, or at least that I try to be.

I have never heard of Emmett Malloy before, (the man who took that photo) but I do know that he is an artist. That picture is beautiful. Absolutely perfect from top to bottom. The lighting, the composition, the mood, the colors, the life.

Here is another photograph, which just so happens to also be of Jack, that I find amazing as well.

(I'm sorry but I don't know who to give credit for on this one)...

So I am feeling inspired by those photographs, and by music.

DO WHAT YOU LOVE.

Very nicely said Susan, you have a way with words, I wish I could express myself in words, but it always sounds awful. Love you. There is much good in the world. More people should focus on that instead of tearing everything apart.

I am inspired to take photos when I see something I want to capture forever in a photo, and realize that I can't. Just today, I saw an exchange between a mother and her soon-to-be missionary son - a moment I would have loved to capture to be able to experience again and again. But, I was in a sacred place where photography was not allowed. So, instead, I try to capture as much as I can, when I can.
