What Heidi and Alex had to say...

You might remember Heidi and Alex

Here is what Heidi and Alex had to say about our session:

I have been looking at photographers in Utah for several months trying to find the one that had a style I liked and of course had great packages and prices.  I was so excited when I came across Susan's photography because she fit what I was looking for.  Susan was so easy to work with and was very willing to work with me since I was sick that day too.  I loved how open she was to what I wanted to do too. We are very happy with the quality of the photographs we received from her and will definitely go to her again in the future when we want more pictures done in Utah! Thanks so much Susan! We love them..all of them!

What Rebecca had to say...

You may remember the Phalen Family

Here is what Rebecca had to say about our session:

Susan took some pictures for a friend of mine and I was so impressed that I just had to have her take some family pictures for us. Susan is so great with kids! My son was being difficult the entire shoot, but you wouldn't know it from the pictures! She is THAT good.  Somehow she made all those cries and protests look like smiles. She never lost her patience with him. I have had family pictures taken with other photographers and I've never met anyone so good with children. I will definitely be getting portraits taken with her in the future.

Playing around with some effects

Here is a look at the same picture through different effects... I love how it changes the feel of the picture with each different one.

My attempt at doing Lomography in Photoshop

Here are some Lomo shots that I have been playing around with in Photoshop. They are all taken with my Nikon DSLR, but I wanted to see if I could make it look like they were taken on a Holga or a Diana or any other Lomography camera. If you would like to, please let me know what you think.

To start things off, here is a "polaroid"

Here is a first attempt at a "fish eye"

Here is my first attempt at a Lomo or Holga-type shot

Here are some more attempts, this time with "light leaks"

But, most people shoot in 120 film when they use their Holga, so I decided to try making this last shot square, and do some different types of "light leaks"

Here are a few more examples

What do you guys think of this? I would love input as I am always trying to improve on both my photo taking as well as my composition and post-processing.

PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY OF THESE IMAGES WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST THROUGH EMAIL AT: susanmonsonphotography(at)gmail(dot)com. THANK YOU!

What Corbyn's Mommy had to say...

Here is what Shauna had to say about the newborn session with Baby Corbyn:

Thanks so much Susan! We loved having you come to our home and take pictures of our new baby. Your prices are very reasonable to begin with... With the added discount for having taken maternity pictures with you, I felt like we were getting them practically for free and then you threw in the nursery pictures on top of that. It is so refreshing to find a talented photographer that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for pictures! We will definitely keep you in mind for any pictures we want taken in the future! Thanks again! - Shauna
