Here is what Kimberly Job had to say about our photo shoot...

 Getting family pictures taken has never been my favorite thing to do, especially with ten children.  Just the prospect is overwhelming.  What will we wear?  Where will we take them? Can I really clear my kids schedules all at once, and keep seven boys clean for an hour?

Susan Monson made it easy.  She provided suggestions for location and wardrobe, and rearranged her schedule more than once to fit ours.  During the photo shoot she was professional but had an outgoing, fun personality that made every member of my family comfortable and willing to cooperate.

She came prepared with a list of ideas, but was completely open to anything we wanted to try.  I loved her creative photography style.  We had some traditional poses, along with many fun shots.  She is awesome at capturing candid moments that show real emotion.  We are already talking about scheduling my daughter's senior photos, and I won't hesitate to recommend her to family and friends.

The Job Family

Wow! Such a fun group, and so many! Kim and Scott just got married in August, and they have 10 children between them! It was so fun to get to know them a little during the shoot, and they were so willing to try all sorts of things. What a beautiful family, they are-inside and out! Kim is an author, and won the giveaway on the Cranberry Fries Blog a few months ago. I had so much fun yesterday, and I hope they did too. As you can see, we got some fun shots.

Shauna and Roger

Here are some photos from a maternity photo shoot today. Could we have shot in a more beautiful location? The Crandall Family owns this orchard in Orem, and they were SO kind to let us shoot there today. Shauna is so beautiful. She just glowed, honestly. And talk about tiny! She has that perfect little pregnant tummy. Roger was hilarious and really fun. They both were so laid back and up for anything I asked. I was so happy to be able to spend a little bit of time with these two. It is so awesome to be with first-time expectant parents, and these two are expecting little baby Corbin very soon! Thanks you two for letting me capture this sweet moment in your lives!

What a difference a LIGHT SCOOP makes!

I recently, (by recently, I mean a month or so ago) purchased a LIGHT SCOOP from Dr. Kobre's Light Scoop. I mentioned it on my personal blog here. But, I wanted to show some comparisons on this blog. I HIGHLY recommend this product... especially if you live in a 1300 sq ft basement apartment with only two main windows... But, even if you don't, and just need something to get rid of HORRID in-camera flash lighting, then this product is a wonderful alternative to the $200+ you can spend on an external flash, or SPEEDLITE, SPEEDLIGHT... whatever brand your company makes...

My LIGHT SCOOP was $35, and very much worth every penny. I used it during my shoot with Baby Jonathan, though at times I didn't need it. But, for those times that I DID need it, I was SO glad to have it!

Now, here are the pictures... The first, is a picture WITHOUT any flash.

See how dark and yellow it is? This would have been a cute picture if it weren't for our terrible lighting. This was shot at 800 ISO and with the aperture at it's largest f stop (f1.8) and at 200 shutter speed. (All of these pictures are taken with the same settings).

The next picture was taken with the in-camera pop up flash.

Do you see how washed out it is? A lot of people are used to the way this looks, because if you are inside, and your camera has a built in flash, this is what you get. Washed out, over exposed subjects.

This next picture was taken with the LIGHT SCOOP. It is completely unedited, as are the other two pictures.

Do you see how much clearer everything is? All that is different, is I added the LIGHT SCOOP to my hot shoe, and it reflects the pop up flash on to the ceiling and bounces the light on to the subject. It is simple, and brilliant.

Keep in mind that the above pictures are all completely unedited. What you see is what I shot. There is a HUGE difference from one to the next.

Even if you are a parent who just wants to take better pictures of your child, and you happen to have a DSLR, this product is phenomenal. I highly recommend it.

He's 2 1/2!

This little...(ahem) I mean big boy is pretty much the sweetest child of all time. He is always such a wonderful subject to photograph. Please enjoy these pictures of Ez feeding the ducks on one of the colder days in Spring time, playing with bubbles and his daddy on a warmer day, and playing inside with his toys. They grow up so fast.
